An Austin K4 3 ton fixed side lorry that could be fitted with a canvas tilt cover if required, note the rope hooks along the body sides. This was one of a small batch of similar vehicles and was one of very few civilian style lorries built by Austin during the war. Note the absence of a spare tyre, the spare steel wheel was supplied, but rubber was in very short supply when the photograph was taken during the war. The white lines on the external edges of the wings were a wartime measure to attempt to allow the vehicle to be seen a little more clearly during the blackout.
This vehicle is pictured below with a 36 foot pole on board.
