GPO - REPERFORATORS


The GPO telegraph reperforator (receiving perforator) is a telegraph machine which receives 5-unit code signals and converts them to perforations in a parchmentised paper tape.

The machine consists of the following units mounted on a base casting:-

  • A driving motor and governor similar to those used on a Teleprinter.

  • An automatic start-stop switch.

  • A Teleprinter type electromagnet unit.

  • A selecting mechanism.

  • A perforating head.

  • A tape roll holder.

This is a receiving instrument only which produces fully-perforated tape without printing.  The latest version (Mark 3) has overall dust cover and RUN-OUT button to enable blank tape, perforated with feed holes only, to be fed from the machine to clear the end of a message from the punch block.

The Mark III is made by Creed, their model 7TR/3.
