TELEPHONE MANUFACTURING Co. (TMC)

This is a compact telephone produced for the Telephone Rentals company. Judging by the circuit, it was made for the PAX market. It is made from parts supplied by other telephone manufacturers. The handset is marked "TR" in the centre. The receiver is electromagnetic, which means it does not require an induction coil. In this case the transmitter and receiver are in series with each other and the telephone is polarity conscious. This was to reduce the price of the telephone, with slight degradation in speech quality, which was fine for PAX use. The case, base and internal components are all from Ericsson (ETL), so probably their mode N1010B. The dial on the telephone below was an ATM No. 24C, which may have been a maintenance replacement, as TMC generally bought their dials from STC. The circuit diagram on the capacitor is exactly the same as that for the Ericsson N1010B. The telephone pictured below was produced around 1946, which was the date on most component parts.
