STC 7353

This a effectively a GPO Telephone No. 706.  The dial label is obviously wrong.

The code on the underside may mean that this was a prototype.  It also has the letters "PX" which may refer to the Phoenix Telephone Co.

The date may be circa 1960 as the telephone has a plastic cord, but it also has the older Plug No. 404 on the line cord.

The press button switch is also an early version, where the press button consists of a nylon holder with a green slide on top.

The numbers on the base can identified as follows:-

First Line
CAT 7353 PX - CAT 7353 is the model number.  PX might refer to the Phoenix Telephone Co. who may have supplied some of the parts.

Second Line
66-LAJ-26-ABE - This is an STC code that identifies it as a 706.

ABE - The first letter can be 'A' or 'G'. It gives the climate rating of the phone. 'A' is for UK use and 'G' is for tropical climates.  The second letter may refer to the type of dial.  The third letter is for the colour: E - Green.
