STC TELEPHONE No. 4510

AUTOMATIC WALL MOUNTING

4510 WALL TYPE
Automatic wall set constructed of wood.

The wood used was generally of inferior quality and the brass fittings were lacquered, not chemically blackened.  'Niceties', such as the cover for protecting the clapper ball of the ringer, were not provided.

The telephone circuit though is pure GPO (Telephone No. 232) and used the latest available Induction Coil.  But the terminals are not numbered, neither are there the same amount of terminals, but the circuit is the same.

Probably a war time expediency.

The dial label in the pictures below is wrong, as it shows a Plessey dial label.

To convert this telephone to work on the UK plug and socket system

  1. Replace the link between L1 left and L1 right with a 3.3k ohm resistor.

  2. Connect the red wire of the new line cord to L2.

  3. Connect the white wire of the new line cord to L1 left.

  4. Insulate the blue and green wires as they are not used.
