No. 354 A wall telephone, in a black moulded Bakelite case, comprising anti-sidetone induction coil (ASTIC), high efficiency 'Neophone' hand microtelephone
with patented immersed electrode inset transmitter on automatic switch cradle;
1000ohms ringer with 2.25in (57mm) diameter gongs.
The front of the telephone case is hinged on the rear casing,
which houses most of the components. When opening the case ensure that the
two fixing screws are pulled outwards, as this avoids damage to the rear casing.

Converting a Siemens Brothers No. 354 to
work on the UK Plug and Socket system

Discard any old cordage or wires that are connected to
terminals L1, L2, C and E.

Remove link between terminals L1 and E.

Connect a 3.3k resistor to terminals L1 and E.

Locate the capacitor (to the right of the bell ringer)
and remove the white wire and insulate.

The other tags on the capacitor (with wires coloured
blue/white and green) should be linked
together by either wrapping a wire around the connections or removing
the two wires and joining them together.

The white wire of the new line cord to terminal L1.
-
The red wire of the new line cord to terminal L2.
-
The blue wire of the new line cord to terminal C.
-
The green wire of the line cord is not used and should be
insulated.

Connect a Rectifier Element No. 205 or similar to
terminals 1 and 2.
