RECEIVER, BELL No. 2

This is a hand held, single pole, receiver used on primary battery telephones (Local Battery working).

The body and earpiece were originally made of Vulcanite, which was an insulant and was used to stop electric shocks in the event of power cables making contact with the external telephone wires.

Coil resistance was 120ohms.

This receiver was later replaced by a design similar to the Receiver Bell No. 1 but with a resistance of 120oms.
