C.B. TELEPHONE By means of this instrument a subscriber whose existing apparatus consists of a standard type of bell set and a desk pedestal employing a fixed transmitter and separate receiver can be given, at a minimum cost, the benefit of the high transmission efficiency and convenience of a hand combination set. Where, from an economic point of view, it may be undesirable to effect a complete replacement by providing a GECoPHONE self-contained instrument, the existing bell set may he retained in service and this complimentary unit No. 614 installed. As in the GECoPHONE set all external parts consist of polished black Bakelite mouldings, but the pedestal is reduced in height and contains only an anti-side tone transformer and cradle switch. The connecting cord is 4 ft. 6 ins, long and is suitably terminated for attachment to the bell set. If direct connection between the two units is not made by this cord, No. 203 terminal strip may be employed. By removing the instruction card holder and adding a dial and cord, instrument No. 614 is readily converted into the corresponding automatic type No. 634. It may therefore safely he adopted for use with C.B. manual switchboards which may later be replaced by automatic equipment. If required this set can be supplied complete with the standard bell set No. 922, consisting of an induction coil, condenser and 1000 ohm ringer mounted in a polished walnut case.
