CURLEW

Curlew cordless telephone is a wireless telephone in which up to nine telephone numbers can be stored and then dialed by a simple keypad sequence, saving time and trouble.

In addition the Curlew handset offers a simple-to-use push button keypad with audio feedback for confidence in dialling, last-number re-dial, a hi-lo volume control and a handy belt-clip for easy movement.

The battery-powered handset is re-charged automatically when replaced on the slim-line base unit. Especially suited to wall mounting, the base has a call-button allowing you to 'page' the handset user.

Curlew can operate up to 100m away from its base-unit under ideal radio transmission conditions, and is protected by a security code against unauthorised access to the telephone line by another cordless telephone.

Curlew is available in Ivory.

The Freeway cordless telephone was introduced circa 1985.

The engineering name was the Cordless, Telephone No. 2.

As there were eight radio channels allocated for cordless telephones in the UK and this meant that there were eight models of Curlew, all having a different suffix of A to H which corresponded to a specific channel.

The Curlew cost £129 in the mid 1980's.
