Block Terminal No. 1

Small one pair round external type moulded Block.

Consists of two double screwed terminal plates in a circular insulated block of 2.5 inch diameter.

Block Terminal No. 2

Four double screwed terminal plates on rectangular insulating base with slide on metal cover.  Has two recessed which may be filled with compound for sealing incoming and outgoing lead covered cables.

Block Terminal No. 3

As the Block Terminal No. 2 but with 8 plates (4 pairs).

Block Terminal No. 5

Used in place of Protector, Heat Coil and Fuse No. 201 on a H.C. & F. 0/10, 0/14 or 0/20 mounting frame.

Provides testing facilities only.

The Block Terminal No. 5 is to the left and a Protector, Heat Coil and Fuse No. 201 is on the right.

Block Terminal No. 6

Similar to Block Terminal No. 3 and used for terminating 10 pair cables (except paper covered)

Superseded by Case Distribution 20 wire.

Moulded body made from Telenduron or Abonestos and fitted with a black, enamelled steel, slide on, cover.

14 pair Block for terminating 40lb and 70lb Paper Covered cables.

Superseded by Blocks, Terminal No. 17 for external use.

Similar design to Block, Terminal No.13.

Introduced circa 1929.

Block Terminal No. 16

15 pair connection strip.  Oblong Bakelite enclosure with S.R.V.P. cover.

Use - unknown but looks like terminator between external and internal cables..

Introduced inn 1934.
 

 
Block Terminal No. 17

A circular block which contains 15 pairs of terminals and was used externally.

Generally found at the top of a pole feeding dropwires to houses.

The cover is released by means of a central screw.  This screw had a tendency to seize.

Superseded Block Terminals No's 8, 9, 12 & 14.

Introduced in 1948.

Block Terminal No. 18

Plastic circular Block Terminal for external use.

4 way terminal block used for terminating underground cable.

Normally found on 1960's and 1970's housing developments.

Made from Telenduron.

Introduced in 1954.

Superseded by Block terminal No. 66
 

 

Block Terminal No. 20

Phenolic moulded terminal block that was supplied in 4 different variants.  Available with either 2, 4, 8 and 12 double screw terminal plates.

For internal use.

Colours:-
No. 20/2 - Black only - two connection plates.
No. 20/4 - Black, Green, Ivory, Red and Elephant Grey – Four connection plates.
No. 20/8 – Black, Green, Ivory, Red – Eight Connection plates.
No. 20/12 – Black, Green, Ivory, Red – Twelve connection plates.

Superseded Strips, Flexible Cord Connection.

Introduced 1937.  Elephant Grey colour introduced in 1959.

The incoming cable uses the solder tags and the outgoing wiring the screw tags.

Includes a screw on lid.

Block Terminal No. 31A

Oval in shape, and constructed in three sections.  There is a metal base (which is fixed to a wall), a middle section that sits on top the base and a lid with a central screw that draws the three together.

The central section has 12 terminals on both sides.  The incoming cable is terminated underneath and the outgoing cable terminating on the top side.
