Code cards - LNER standard designs
These rather narrow cards fitted the cast-iron frame favoured by the LNER. The left hand and right hand cards differ only in the date of printing. Versions exist with codes and calls pre-printed. Normally the codes were typed or hand-written.
The same design was carried on by British Railways, retaining at first its LNER stationery order code (B.565, lefthand example) and the renumbered BR29673 (righthand example).
