SDX INDEX 400

PXML No. BABT/PXML/CRA0090
APPROVAL No. AA605400 (INDEX 400)

The Index is made by SDX Business Systems Ltd and at present consists of four models, 100, 200, 400 and 800.

INDEX 400
Introduced in late 1995, the Index 400 is a self-contained, pre-programmed key telephone system. The system is digital, 4 wire switched and uses A-law encoding.
The Index 400 is a two box wall mounted system capable of supporting up to 416 devices. The system can also be used with the existing SDX GCUs as specified below increasing capacity to 656 devices. The Index 400 system configuration of one Control Unit (CU) , equipped with a CPU Cassette and a Link Cassette (LC1E/4G) supports up to 240 devices, a device being an external line (trunk or tie line) or an extension. These devices are contained within up to 4 SDX42ON Group Control Units (GCUs) /Expansion Control Units (ECU's) which are connected to the CU via fibre optic cables from the Link Cassette and support 60 devices each. The System can be sub-equipped at installation and expanded to the maximum 240 ports at a later stage.

The Index 400 system configuration of one Control Unit equipped with a CPU, a Link Cassette, and one Expansion Unit with an Expansion Cassette supports up to 416 Index 400 devices.

Each CU/EU/GCU/ECU contains a power supply unit which is mains powered. The Index 400 power supplies are modular.

The system has an integral self test diagnostics routine which continually monitors the system, any resulting reports enabling rapid fault location and repair.

Systems when delivered are in full working order with all standard features and facilities incorporated. On completion of installation a simple self-diagnostic test procedure enables the system to be proved before handover.
A simple change procedure enables features and facilities to be altered following installation and by the user during the lifetime of the system.

The apparatus is approved for use in the Simple Call Routing Mode (SCRM).

The main items for use with the CU/GCU SLC system are the basic FT1/FT1(m) terminals, the feature and display FT2, FT3, FT4, FT5, FT6 terminals, the DSS/BLF Unit, the ACD Turret, and the Operator Console.
The main items for use with the CU/EU DSLC system are the DT1, DT3, DT4, DT5, TT3 (ACD Turret) and TT5.

A VDU with keyboard (VT100 compatible) enables features and facilities to be changed as required. The VDU provides the maintenance engineer with diagnostic tools. Alternatively, a personal computer may be used off-line to program the range of facilities.

The PC/VDU connection to the system is via one of four RS232C compatible ports which can also be used to connect an optional customer supplied printer. This can then be set up to provide a paper printout of call or fault statistics.

Connection to DPNSS/DASS2 circuits is via coaxial cables connected directly to the line card.
